Privacy policy
This page explains what we do with the personal information you give us, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Who we are
Nqabara Eco River Lodge, Nqabara, Mbashe, Eastern Cape, is responsible for your information. Questions or requests go to Tim Hammond at tim@nqabara.co.za or +27 (0)82 320 9320.
What we collect
- Enquiry and contact forms. Your name, email address, phone number, travel dates, number of guests, where you'd like to stay and anything you write in your message.
- Online bookings. Bookings made through NightsBridge go through their system. NightsBridge passes us your name, contact details and booking details. Their own privacy policy covers what they keep.
- Your stay. Records of your booking, payments and any extras you buy at the lodge, kept for our accounts.
- Visits to this website. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read, which country visitors are in, which site sent them and whether they're on a phone or computer. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't identify you and doesn't follow you to other websites.
We don't use advertising trackers, and this website doesn't set its own cookies.
Why we use it
Only to answer your enquiry, arrange and manage your booking, send invoices and receipts, and keep the financial records the law requires. Visit counts only tell us which pages are useful and how people find the site. We don't send marketing emails, and we never sell or rent your details to anyone.
Who sees it
The lodge manager and the staff who prepare for your stay. We share details with others only when it's needed for your booking, such as NightsBridge for online bookings or a guide you've booked through us, or when the law requires it.
Other services on this website
Some pages load content from other companies, which receive your device's IP address when they do:
- Cloudflare, which hosts the site and provides the visitor counts described above
- Google Fonts, for the lettering on every page
- Google Maps, for the map on the contact page. Google may set its own cookies there.
- Tripadvisor, for the review box on the home page
Links to Facebook, Instagram, Tripadvisor and NightsBridge take you to their sites, where their privacy policies apply.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don't become bookings are deleted within a year. Booking and payment records are kept for five years, as South African tax law requires, and then deleted.
Keeping it safe
Your details are kept in our password-protected email account and booking system. Paper records at the lodge are stored out of public view.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you and send you a copy
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete your information, unless we have to keep it for tax records
- stop using your information for a particular purpose
Email tim@nqabara.co.za and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
